Yeah, that's right, I want to see your night shots!! Here's a sample, Thanksgiving morning, pre-dawn at west Cheyenne, with a BNSF train sitting on the overhead line:
Over the years, I've tried a few. Never able to capture more than a blur. Maybe a digital camera makes a difference? Any thoughts on that? Boxcab E50
Digital cameras definately can make a difference...since you can take a shot...experiment alot...with various exposures...if your camera has the ability. My first digital cam only had up to a 30sec exposure with a fixed "F-stop"/ aperature etc...So I have been playing around with some night shots with my newer digital cam...the ones I don't like I get to delete them...previously with film...as we all know...it was almost trial and error...until the exposures came back from processing.
Sweeeeeet!! Is that the Donner Pass line east of Truckee? Much nicer and sharper than mine is capable of.... Here's a dimly-lit night shot of a former ATSF Geep:
Nice shots! I have tried a few digital shots (hand-held) that I thought were marginal.... Maybe I can dig up a few... Harold
One of my better attempts. Not quite night. Will sunset do? Hard to believe this was over 25 years ago. The tracks are all long gone. Milwaukee Road in eastern Washington. Boxcab E50
Wow, go Ken go! UP's largest diesel unit rests in the siding at Cheyenne, complete with rotating beacon:
I think I have a few I can add to this topic... [ March 19, 2006, 09:56 PM: Message edited by: Stourbridge Lion ]
