Looks like I can see the old NP lettering down it's side. It's been ages.... Oh how I remember watching the NP as a child. Boxcab E50
This one seems to be in MOW service out of Havre, rather than scrap steel service elsewhere; getting the life beat out of it.
Equipment from NP GN CB&Q SP&S is getting more scarce all the time. The gon is a real find there. Near Westport Wn. there is an Ex: NP caboose. One of the shorty 30 foot ones. There is Java Express in Longview in a caboose that is either from the NP or SP&S. It has been painted over but is one of the high cupola varieties complete with trucks. Zeke's on U.S.2 in northern Washington has another of the Ex: NP shorties minus trucks as part of their drive in. It is painted in a faux GN style.
Yes, it was nice to see that gon. Athearn does one similar to that although I don't know if they have one with NP on it. I was in Seattle over the weekend and of course I saw a lot of BN. Don't look now but that color scheme is disappearing fast too.
That's an amazing realization. Every time it comes into mind, I find myself pondering how swiftly it came, and went. Boxcab E50
There is a line of woodchip cars in the yard at Quincy, WA that have not been relettered GBRX yet. Real nice to see BN, GN, and NP. There area a few out in the yard at Adrian, WA as well. Saw an NP flatcar in Spokane on 2-17. It was in company service at Yardley.
Dan- Good to see you're up and running once again! Any chance you can catch those cars? Especially any without the stripe... Keep the memories alive! Boxcab E50
