Need suggestions on what basic color to paint my new plywood board. It is 4 1/2' X 10'. I am building Atlas Code 80 Atlantic Long Haul Line (from old Atlas Nine scale book). I am thinking earth color/tan/browns???????. Help.

Any flat latex paint in the tan/brown family would work.

I painted the foam base for my latest shelf switcher different shades of green with smears of dark brown. Why? I had a lot of green handy, not much brown, and I'm modeling northern Florida so there should be a fair amount of green (no drought on my layout!). And I couldn't stand looking at the pink foam any longer.

It'll all be covered eventually with ground foam, etc. so I think it'll look ok even if some of the base colors show through.

I think you'll be better off with light brown than dark brown. Light brown photographs much better. I had to use a lot of yellow foam to combat the dark brown.
