I am quite sure this is a stupid question but I`m going to post it anyway.I am begining to lay out my track plan on my second lay-out. My first had all #4 turnouts and on this one I am using #8`s on my mainline and #6`s on my locals and spurs. I just received my first #8 Atlas turnouts and they are so much better than the #4`s. My question is: There are electrical connections at the frog and I`m not sure how they work. I added them into my existing track and they seem to work really well without hooking anything up to these connections. Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks.

    Switches

The Atlas switches usually have a dead frog. The frog can be easily powered but if you are using DCC check the above mentioned site. I've powered the frogs in the Atlas switches by rinning a wire from the frog to the rivites at he heel of the points. I use DC so have no experience with what this would do using DCC

If the turnouts are working OK as is, leave the frogs unpowered. They can cause some problems in DCC if they are energized without being wired properly.
