the other day i was thinkning about getting rid of all my n scale equipment but am kinda stumped as far as what to do i have the following: 125 different cars 2 different passenger lines (1 erie & 1 lackawanna) 5 n scale ford c pumpers 5 building enough unitrack to do 2 1/2 ovals 15 engines (DC not DCC) 1 power pack (crappy bachmann train set pack) was going to ask 500.00 for everything plus shipping but i know i have more that that invested in it (just the engines alone is about 500.00 or so) what does everyone think.......should i sell everything for 500.00 or say best offer
Conrail You may be right, what are the makes of the engines and rolling stock, what are the roadnames, this sometimes adds to the value!!!
I'd break it into a bunch of lots. You can sell stuff here on TrainBoard for free, and I would think you will get north of $500. There are also the online auctions, and N-scale moves very well on those.
A little research on eBay should give you an idea of what similar items are selling for. At least enough to let you know if $500 is reasonable. Ben
I would break it up into groups, or even singles with the cars and locomotives. I would try them on ebay first, then what doesn't sell, put them here on Trainstore. Thom
Yes, think about just putting them away and you might be surprise that later in life you will want them back. I have all my childhood equipment as well as my fathers now as well too. I'm so glad they were never sold.
You've made your decision to leave N scale. However, It's been suggested that you may want to wait (unless it's a need) a while, 6 mo. to a yr. to sell your N Scale inventory. This will give you time to reconsider before you jump off the bridge. I don't install decoders, because I can't, so IMO DC locomotives are less valuable than DCC ones. Also it they are more than 3 or 4 years old (Hong Kong instead of china) their value is less. With Atlas's new inexpensive line of rolling stock, the value of your cars is low. The track may be worth to someone who uses it otherwise it's value is debatable. For the lot $500 may be the high point. I don't like EBay, it's a lot of trouble. I suggest you consider the for sale sites on Trainboard. Lot of luck Se ya
