hello all, i am a newbie to this forum, but a veteran of other like it so here goes......... I am moving to japan very soon, and need to come up with an efficient/simple method of getting my decent size collection of cars/locos there safely. I was using the original boxes, but have found the 50 boxcars/centerflows don't fit in the original box, with couplers on them. How do you folks store your equipment when not using it and or travel with it. thanks in advance for your replies, shawn
Welcome to our family here at the TrainBoard Rock! I hope you will still visit us when you get moved! Contact Bryan Malone at: bmalone@ch-advertizing.com Bryan can supply you with packing boxes designed specifically for this purpose! OK? Have a safe trip. Do contact us again!
also, ther'ss a company, I forget their name, but they have a small ad in MR, that sells foam lined boxes for HO & N scale cars and locos. I've used them, and they're great!
thank you for your responses. I had a local hobby store owner tell me the first things he did , was throw the box away. He then wraps his finished car in Paper towel, and stores many cars in a single large box. As of now i only have about 100 cars, but am buying all the time. I did really like the idea of a labeled individual box. I will have to investigate futher. shawn
Keyrail, You wouldn't happen to mean "Reboxx" by any chance? They make foam lined storage/transport boxes as well... I can't remember the web site or contact information off the top of my head... but maybe someone else can.... Anyone?
no, that's not it. They used to be called A & B INDUSTRIES, but now they go by some other name. ABBACADABRA INDUSTRIES, or something like that. I think it strswith an A. I know tey're located in arizona. Anyway, theiboxes are great!
A-Line sells some boxes designed for storage and transportation (but not shipping) http://www.ppw-aline.com/HobbyTote.htm
The foam-lined self-closing boxes that I use for transporting my rolling stock to modular set-up's are made by Axian Technology in Phoenix AZ. 623-580-0800 (800-466-3131 to order). The boxes are not inexpensive (HO holds 16 cars, $19), but they're well made and seem to hold up.
