Hi I'm Jim and I model Spokane, Portland and Seattle railway Oregon Trunk from Wishram, Washington to Bend, Oregon spring 1965. This is my fourth layout and by far the largest Ive built at 16 feet by 50 feet multi layer and it has 420 feet of main line. The layout is powered with Digitax PS2012, 20amp power supply, DCS 200 8 amp command, DB200 8 amp booster, 4 BDL 168 occupancy boards with 64 districts, PM42, 4 section auto reverse, and 2 SE8c (so far)signal boards. All locomotive are DCC and a few with sound. (not sure if I like all the noise) I enjoy operation planning and visiting other layouts. Model railroading is so deverse that it seems like you cant know it all, but its sure fun to learn. With the advent of DCC, there are no limits to what you can do. Ive found JMRI is my choice to interface all the DCC componets to make the layout funtion as I like. Scenery is the most relaxing. I have used different materials and Bragadon foam and moulds are the easiest and by far less of a mess. When I get the chance, building by scratch are very rewarding, but I am still a novice.

Welcome aboard, Jim, and like the others, I would really like to see photos of your layout, as that Deschutes River canyon is a fabulous place. Having ridden through there behind 4449 a few times, I have a real appreciation for the Oregon Trunk.
