My Athearn Genesis loco with a factory installed Tsunami sound decoder isn't producing sound when on my layout. When I have it on the Programming track with my PR3 it does have sound. I know the Master Volume CV has a very high value and the mute button isn't on. Anybody got any ideas on what my problem is when on the layout? I'm sure it's something simple, but can't figure it out.

Try re-programming CV128 (master volume) using Ops mode programming (what some call "programming on the main") after you return it to the layout. I seem to remember hearing reports of the PR3 setting this to '0' because it is a test mode for Digitrax decoders.

I actually found that I was turning the throttle to "off" after Programming and apparently that was also turning the sound off. When I left it in the "on" position and just picked the loco off the program track and carried it to the layout the sound worked perfectly. I can't really explain it, but I guess this is part of being new to JMRI.
