Some time back I started a thread in which you were invited to post your favorite bad-looking paint job on a locomotive. Mishmashes, faded paint, heavy weathering, or unimaginative schemes that we see out railfanning. This is the sequel to that thread. Feel free to post those basket-case paint jobs here. To start off, a favorite- a badly-faded CN GP40-2W now part of a rent-a-wreck fleet, sitting in Carthage, MO in August 2009. Location is the Missouri & North Arkansas shops.
It was the over use of their secret hyper drive, which that speed caused the paint to literally be ripped off.
Here is an ex Illinois Central Gulf GP38 with a quick MKT patch job and a nice coating of rust. At Eureka Yard in Houston back in June of 1987.
Russ, I knew a tunnel motor would show up! But my vote for "Bets (err, Best) in Show" so far would probably be that Katy unit.
They're all ragged, but with the addition of rust, so far I would agree with Mike on that Katy. A rolling, still somehow running scrap heap?
I dunno, Ken, Not many Espee freight trains went that fast. Maybe it was pooled on the Rio Grande and ran some fast miles on a hot Ford FAST...
My vote's for the Katy unit as well. That really looks horrible. Until an even more decrepit loco pops up here.:uhoh:
This rustbucket was found trying to hide behind a building, it was so ashamed of its "paint scheme": Shot on the Georgia Florida Railnet, Albany, GA. This poor ex-B&M GP40-2 has seen much better days- looks like the GoofyRail paint musta been water-based......
Keith, 2232 has a severe case of schizophrenia. She might be hearing voices from past lives, a very scary thought. LOL
In another thread, didn't we see a more recent view of that 2232? It looked better than this view. Was it repainted after this photo was taken?
