Hi All, I recentley began construction on a small (3x5) HO layout. I have some track and other needed supplies needed to complete the project, but I'm lacking ideas. I plan on using 15" radius curves with 18" easments. Can anyone provide a picture and advice of a similar project that they've completed? Thanks, Manny
Welcome to trainboard! Have you tried google? I found a few sites Small HO Scale Model Railroad Layouts with Track Plans | Gateway Central Train Layout http://www.thortrains.net/poorhox.html There are many more, just google, "small HO layout plans"
Hi Manny - Welcome aboard! Here are two resources for small layout track plans. The Mad Trackplanner's Page Micro/Small Layouts for Model Railroads - Jeff
I think this is more appropriate: Small Layout Design [Home] In Europe, 18" isn't regarded as a standard minimum; smaller sectional curves are common, and much equipment is designed to run on them.
This is going to sound strange, but your space issues are what most O scalers deal with. I often go to O scale forums to seed what they are doing to deal with space issues. he he They have to use those tiny 36" curves. You might check into Peco #4 turn outs. I'm not a scale snob. So pick your scale and run with it, but with your space you could really go nuts with N or z scale. Or else consider Hon3, or even On30. I just reread your post and see that you have ho scale track. I'd just start laying track out on the floor and see what happens and what looks and feels good. Maybe even put it all together and run a couple trains to test couplers on cruves and such.
Thanks, All your input is greatly accepted! I am using HO track, but I do own some On30 equipment. I know I can get by with a lot more in that scale, but I wanted to see what I could do with HO standard gauge trains. Maybe a branchline or something along the lines with a rr museum?
