Elsewhere on Trainboard, there is a thread ongoing about your favorite shortline RR. A post today mentions putting up views of your favorite.

I realized that mine are all slides. :( And I do not have a slide scanner. Oops. So, my desk being already covered with too many computer accessories, am wondering if there is a slide scanner that would fit in a CD sized bay of my computer? And still give excellent quality scans? Is this possible?

    Suggestions?

    :D

I can't help on your CD size slide scanner but I just got a Visioneer 9020 scanner that will do slides and 35mm negatives. I have tried some negatives and it seems to do very well through Adobe Photoshop program. Good price on the scanner also.

    Boxcab:

There are no scanners that fit inside your computer. They are all external models that plug into the computer by various means.

I have an Olympus ES-10 scanner that I picked up used a year ago. Excellent scanner if you can find a used one. If not, I would suggest a new one from Canon. Their new slide scanners are excellent for the price.

I have lots of slides which we have not viewed for a long time, and I need a slide scanner.

But as an experiment I projected some slides on a screen in the usual way, and photographed them with my digital camera. This is one of the results, which is not too bad. It is of my wife Irene taken on a holiday in the English lake district shortly after we were married [IMG]

By-golly Alan, that came out pretty well! I'm impressed and certainly more than sufficient for use in here! [IMG]

Yes Bill, I was very pleasantly surprised how well they came out. Also pleased to have some more pics of my lovely wife :D

I have done many more, and providing the slide is fairly bright and well exposed, they come out ok. Not too good if the slide was a bit dark.

I have some slides of trains so will have a go at doing the same with them.
