In yesterday's, Aug. 4, Medford MailTribune, in the Business section is an update and news about the Siskiyou Line and Yreka Western Railroad. You can read it online.

So did the new chairman make a decision?

I'm watching a Charles Smiley Video from 1998 that has a big section on CORP and how many trucks they took off the road. Great Video, to Bad Rail America doesn't think they can make a go of it.

This whole "making an announcment in the next day or 2 thing must mean something different along the potomic river."

Well, you know how it goes- Once comfortably established in office, the new guy probably had to take a junket to Hawaii to study the problem for a month or so. Upon return, discovered more information was needed, so another junket, this time to Tahiti. When he gets bored, he'll be back, and perhaps actually do something- After a ski holiday or two this winter.

Sounds about right. Seems like it always takes a trip at taxpayer expense,
Ya ever notice how much something gets studied and how much it costs?

It usually costs too much because it gets studied too much, rather than getting worked on.

So many "studies" are dated, those must be re-worked. Rules and regulations constantly change, so studies must be re-worked. Someone has a bright (NOT!) idea, so another re-work. As is typical for too many endeavors these days, add in all the costs for delays due to litigations, plus those re-dos. Then.... Is it any wonder projects constantly have huge cost overruns? And require triple the time originally planned, or longer...
