So I have my 3% grade nolix (?) going up to the second level. I used woodland scenics inclines. So now I have two options, I could make it a single line reverse loop, or I could make it a double line (one north, one south). There is room for either. Trainboard has come through before for me, don't fail me now...

Personally I would go with the double track main. It simplifies the wiring to not have to mess with the reverse loop and I think trains passing in opposite directions on a steep grade looks pretty cool. Prototypically I believe the era you model will have some influence on double vs.single. Of course, I freely exercise my modelers license to do whatever I want.

to quote Homer Simpson, "duh". Realized that all my stone "NW style" tunnels are for single track. Despite the fact I was interested in a double line, I have just laid the roadbed for a single line. At least this will allow more room for scenic...

A double would be nice, but single track just makes operations that much more challenging and fun!

While it is probably too late to make any difference in considerations, I have a two track main line, a "dog bone" folded over itself on a "U" shaped layout. The main feature of its operation are two "branch lines", each of which connect one main to the other. This allows a train to "go out" on one track and eventually return on the other, and vice-versa. By aligning the switches properly, a train can travel most of the layout, on both main lines, ad infinitum.
