Here are the signals on the town and orchard side of the module And close ups of the two styles of signals
Another month, a little more progress.... I went ahead and purchased two of the modern office buildings from the seller in Germany on eBay. They are very nice looking structures, fairly simple construction This is my first placement of them on the module, and starting to draw in what I want around them. Stuck some random trees in for photo-op The gold building will be the Daystrom Institute of Advanced Studies. The green patch at the end of it will be grass (just used chalk to mark the surface). The grey square will be a basketball half-court, with employees playing.
The area between the buildings will be a brick driveway, with island down the center, and turnaround with large old oak tree at the end Will be some form of plazas (TBD) for the entrances of both buildings The blue building will the the Torchwood Institute I have them set such that there will not be any of the parking lots actually visible for either building
Torchwood is placed, appropriately, directly across the tracks from the under construction Gallifrey Techonologies building
Geeeezzzzzzzzzzzzz Rick !!! I'm not into competitions...but how does one even begin to compete with something like this ? LOL.
I'm just glad that I was able to find these. Lots to do to make the rest of surrounding area match the quality of them. I may still try my hand on a scratch built modern building, too.
Looks like I missed my chance to do some back slapping atta boys. Aw shucks, I'll throw in my shout out. Looking spiffy! To Rick B., some amazing work there. You said something about finding these buildings and I'ma wondering where? Is there an architect in the house?
Well, there is an architect in the house, sort of. My daughter received her Bach of Arch in 2010. Unfortunately that was the "lost class" due to the economy. Almost no one got hired at any firm. But, she has instead pursued a Masters of Fine Arts in Theater Design, finishing her thesis this month. Gotten rave reviews for her work, including from a Tony Award winning designer, who she interned for. As for finding these buildings, they are from this eBay seller: http://www.ebay.com/usr/midnightsun0_1?_trksid=p2047675.l2559 You can find lots of buildings around here in Silicon Valley very similar to these. Been staring at them this morning, trying to figure out how I want to build the plazas in front of them, what lighting to use, etc. I expect a week of staring and pondering, and then a burst of activity.
No plans for Jelly Baby factory, sorry. Out here, we have Sonic Hamburger drive ins. I always wonder what they would do if I asked for a screwdriver
Got some of the actual landscaping around the new business park done this weekend. Made the brick drive, with center island, and a turnaround with a classic heritage Calif Oak. The plazas in front of the buildings are a mixed stone finished concrete, and trees and a fountain will eventually appear There is a half court basketball area next to the gold building (Daystrom Inst), in the grassy area that connects up with the park. Here we see a little 3 on 3 game going on A better view of the plaza And a wide view from above
