yep,..replace the cab side herald with the ball and bar and remove the eagle replace with 3052 and CNW where the number is. I have a pic but I'm not sure about copyright so I won't post it. Alot of CNW SD45's were recieved the same way except in Conrail/PC colours. They even leased some BN SD45's that got the same treatment as the MP SD40's
Sten, wouldnt mind seeing them one day. i'm about to start a project to do 2 more MOPACS with Jasons help.
2 MRL SD40's.The rest are all SD40-2,BN with a couple of white faces thrown in,oh & one of those is a SOO LINE ! Here's a demo one I did for him, not quite finished yet,but will be soon. [ 29. August 2004, 14:04: Message edited by: JASON ]
Jason Don't forget the anti-glare patch on top of the short Hood this time. I believe with BN it is black
One day I hope to do a pair of Alton & Southern GP38-2s...they're still working around St. Louis. I have the decals, but am still waiting for an early non-DB GP38-2. Here's a pic just in case someone's interested in some yard unit variety. The A&S was jointly owned by the CNW and MoPac, hence the yellow & blue and the merged logo. ~Tim
What are the differences between the dash 2 and normal GP-38's? If it is internal then Atlas has released early version GP38's without DB's. I have one and even if there are external differences I might paint it in an A&S livery anyway
Sten, I think the GP38 & -2 variations are minor...site glass on the long hood, maybe the air filter housing. Rather than use the early Atlas GP38 (#48900), it would be better to use the later version without DB (Atlas #49800). MP only had 5 of the early GP38s. All others incl. the A&S units were GP38-2s that are closer to the 498XX series. I hope you take on the project. I wish I had the time myself! ~Tim
I was able to purchase the book "Missouri Pacific Diesel Power" from ebay for a good price. I have asked Kevin EuDaly the author to sign it for me.
Paul, It sounds as if kevin EuDaly replied to your email. When do expect to recive it? Great book for Mopac nuts. I reckon that it is the best diesel roster book ever! My copy is certainly getting used at the moment. Good reference for most of my projects. The current one is something different. Old Life Like low nose GP18 in Texas & Pacific blue and grey paint. Only started it on Sunday night, just waiting for the gloss coat to dry and should be decalled tomorrow night. Will have to post some photos when it is finished. Norco.
Gary, Kevin was selling a copy as "buy now" on Ebay, I just happened to be googleing to see the cheapest price for the book and found the ebay listing. Kevin signed the book and has posted it and said it should be here in 5 weeks. I bought it for $25 US plus $12.95 postage. Looking forward to seeing your new loco
Here are a couple more shots of my MOPACS these were detailed and custom painted by Mitch MOPAC 3092 The next two will be detailed and paitned by me with help from Jason. I actually may even weather mine two
I'll add my 2 cents that the EuDaly book is great! I've used (and read) mine so much that a lot of pages are loose. Oh well, that's why I bought it, to use it! PS: Paul, I sent you (I think) an e-mail about losing my RailImages stuff. Did you get it? Please Help, I'd love to be able to post to this topic.
