These two photos were taken on September 12, 1942 at the Elnora, Indiana depot, located on the E I & TH line of the NYC. The man standing by the phone booth was dispatcher H.C. Settlemoir. At this point in time, the line was dispatched from an office in the Terre Haute, Indiana depot and not from the division office at Mattoon, Illinois. This dispatcher (my father) was making a visit down the line from Terre Haute on this particular day. CAPT Rex Settlemoir
Roger, you and I were about 3 years old when that was taken. More history from you, and thank you for keeping the New York Central forum going. I was wondering if Mr. Settlemoir was standing on that thing to keep from getting flooded. Looks like it was raining and a lot of water on the ground.
