hey all, im a little late to the party but just picked up an early run sd40 and at full throttle (9ish volts) it moves around my layout a lot slower than i expected. ive caught sight of a few on youtube and it seems to be that way for all but one ive seen. not looking for it to be zipping around at bullet train speeds, just curious how far off normal it might be if any.

are these known to be slow fresh out of the box on clean track?

    thx

    Welcome Corey,

Yes they are a bit slow. For my sample size of one, the speed is about 20% slower than my GPs: 55 MPH scaled.

One has to be careful that Youtube videos always give a feeling of higher speed than it really is.

Finally received my SP #7300 SD40-2. I can report that this unit is running smoother and considerably faster than the unit I have from the first production lot. Speed is similar to AZL GPs.
