I am trying (without a lot of success) to re-scan some old images and improve them. This one is sort of a re-enactment of Promontory at Sacramento in 1999, featuring ATSF 3751 and SP 2467.
Sorry, I just can't let this die. After the second reloading of software, I got this scanner to work again. It is amazing what is on a negative that lousy print processing fails to bring out. I did just a bit of photoshop element work on this one. Wow! What a difference from the original lousy print.
I really dislike keeping my own thread going, but have enjoyed re-scanning some of these old photos. I used to think I was a lousy photographer. After this rescan experience, I am convinced that yes, I am a lousy photographer, but dang, I sure got some terrible service from photo processors. Never did use the big labs, just drug store service. Railimages is down today, but I couldn't resist posting this one from my own site, just because I like it. It has been posted before but has been cropped and slightly enhanced. An ATSF shot, for sure, Railfair 99 in Sacramento.
Don't be!!!!!!! I have posted many of topics that have few replies from others but I can watch the views on the topic jump up from day to day so I that tells me folks are coming back to see each new post as I tell a story through images and videos. This topic is currently at 3 replies but at 83 views so that should say something very positive about this topic.
Nice pics. Hmmm, wonder how many times I have "bumped" my "Fantasy" thread. Still each time i do it gets about another 200 to 400 views.
Jim, the details in this negative are amazing. It certainly demonstrates what can be lost by "drugstore" printing.
