The BN GP38 from Rogue Locomotive Works and the Freudenreich Peavey PS-2 arrived in Rosetown. More pictures on my website.

Very nice George. I have one of the Peavy grain hoppers, and they are easily one of the more colorful ones. Also, keep the pictures coming. They'r great.

Fine work Jürg! Just a question: how about your Rogue GP38-2's running caracteristics? I have three samples of them, and only one is running fairly: and as a fellow Z-scaler has just made over a MTL GP35 chassis to me, I consider using it to retrofit my worse running Rogue GP38-2 (maybe after having had to cut a section of the shell in order to match GP35's chassis length).

Dominique, why dont you have the Stykas fixed your engine. They are miracle workers. The can make a engine come alive when you think its dead. I would hate to see a rare engine cut up, when it can be repair.

Dominique, I've no problems with the Engine. First when I test them the engine stall's a little then I let it run 15 Minutes For and Backwards and now the Locomotive runs smooth. It's a little bit noisier then my AZL but not like a MTL F7. :)

Hi John, the last time I sent some locos to the Stitkas (thus from France to the US) for servicing, they got definitively lost in the meanders of the post or custom offices.....Fortunately they were well insured, allowing me to purchase new samples!:)

2 of mine have good mechanisms and should have fair running caracteristics (one remaining is definitively odd), but all of them have truck castings that are too low, thus driving to derailments...

Dominique, do you have the SP's or BN's? I've tested my GP38 on Micro-Track and Märklin Track but not on Switch Tracks.

Dominique, if you want to tackle the repair yourself, here is a good link on how to fix it. http://www.zscale.org/articles/rogue.html
I would still send it to the Stykas. If they get lose, it wouln't be so bad. They are not running anyway. Like you said, more money for new stuff. Rather then cutting the shell, maybe you should strech the chassis. David f. strech a GP35 into a proper lenght GP40. Just look up David f posts. I learn a lot from Davids post, and I love to see all the kitbashing he comes up with.

I would be real cool if someone like Mark4Design would produce some RP and etched brass shells for the GP35's and SD70's. The shell for the GP38 is longer than the GP35, but using modelers license, an RP shell could be made to look right and fit the GP35 mechanism. It would also leave a little extra space for lighting effect wires too.

Yes, I would like to have a few GP38's too, but the Rogue is too rare. A shell for the GP35 is more feasable.

Robert, Mark said that he will not be making the GP38 shell because the dimensions are not right. He only wants to do accurate models.

On my GP39, The dimensions are not quite right, but I am happy with it. The only thing you have to add is the additional air filter box, delete the turbocharger stack. [IMG]

That GP39 of yours is a thing of beauty too! I hope Mark does find a shell to do for us, I have lots of GP35's and I want to do custom locos out of some of them.:shade:

Thanks Robert. Actually to do a acceptable GP38, you will have to delete the small fan, and move the larger fan closer. Then you have to add the filter box, and delete the turbo stack. add two small exaust stacks, and you are done. I hope one of this day to be able to stretch the chassis like David, but maybe is beyond my skills.

John, nice work on that GP 39! Personally, I think that I geep 38 is a logical loco for AZL to do next after the GP 7/9. I know, AZL grew out of Rogue, as I understand it. But AZL certainly has raised the bar since then. So I don't think it is out of the question.

It's a nice variation but for me, too close to the 35. I'd like something completely different, either modern-modern or a yard switcher like an SD or RS. Can only put together so many of brass kits and find the loco to go under them. Too much time and 2x the money.

I'll agree with you on the RS series. That is a void needed in Z. If that happens you can count me in as someone who would want an alco RS1 for sure! :)
