I am looking to buy a reverse loop module. Sounds like tony's is bullet proof. I would lean towards that but I want to power 2 reverse loops. Does anyone have any suggestions.

I also want easy install and no delay.

Depending on your track configuration and traffic, you can use a single auto-reverse unit to power both loops. So long as trains are not in both loops simultaneously, you should have no problem.

There is a chance that 2 trains can be in them at the same time.

    Claudio:

I wouldn't recommend powering two reverse loops with one reverse loop switch/module.

    That's looking for trouble.

The standard practice is to use one reverse loop module/switch for each reversing loop. That way you won't accidentally shortout your system.

This can happen if you use one reverse loop module for two reverse loops.

You'll just create aggravation if you choose to go down that route.

I got the PSRev modules you mentioned from Tony's Trains, they are great. They are all electronic, no relays to cause any arcing at all while crossing that gaps and easy to install.
I definately suggest you get a separate PSRev for each reverse loop you install to eliminate any future problems.

Are these PSRev a costly item? So far I am looking at 5 reverse loops.I'll probably remove two or three. Thanks for letting me jump in.

The cost of the reverse loop modules varies by manufacturer. Tony's reverese loop module is reasonably priced.

I have a Loys Toys Automatic Reverse Section Controller for a simple reverse loop. I like this device too. But... coming up I basically have a 6 track reversing balloon staging yard. I'm not looking forward to using 6 of these things or 6 of any of the things... The problem is I have Kato Superliners and ATSF Streamliners that have to be inside the resersing section to work with a Loys Toys ARSC. When I get closer I'll have to consult the group to see if there are better ways of doing this.

Hmmmm... I am not sure why these reverse loop controllers are even necessary.

I dont have any reverse loops because I have not laid by layout yet but I have done plenty of experimenting.

If you only run one type of loco or if all your locos have the same wheelbase for the pickup axles then all you really need is a fine hacksaw!

Carefully measure the distance betweent the axles of the wheels that do the power pickup. Then carefully cut both rails in two places and exactly that distance apart. This leaves a dead section of track. Now run your train and unless you are going very slow it wont stop on the dead section and just as soon as the front wheels make contact with the far side you are back under power. I barely see a blink of the headlights when I do this.

Your mileage may vary but it seems to work well.
