I have wired my reverse loop with 2 DPDT center off switches. The loop is isolated with plastic rail joiners. I have even added lights to identify polarity. However, I cannot keep the train from reversing when I throw the switch to reverse polarity on the main line while the train is in the loop. I am forced to wait until the loco hits the turnout again, thus causing the train to jerk, and this no different than just using the switch on the controller. Amy suggestions?
Rather than use two switches I used a bridge rectifier and one switch, the only down side to this is that you cant reverse a train on the loop. Here is a link to my website showing how I did it. Reversing section control
Hot rail shown in RED Ground rail shown in BLACK. You are running "Forward" with Layout DPDT set F1-F2 A. Engine and cars go through turnout onto Loop at F2 A , and while running in the loop, you flip Layout DPDT F1 to "R1" Reverse, so engine continues back onto the Layout as at R1-F2 C. (Engine is able to also back up by flipping the appropriate DPDT switch.) Should you desire to park an engine on the loop, simply set Loop DPDT F2 to Center "off" as shown at F1-off 2 B. Other engines may be run such as to couple up a double header, while Loop engine waits. Cut rail gaps as shown, run separate rail wires to DPDT switches.
