Have any more former Conrail SD80macs been repainted/renumbered? I am assuming that the next units will be #802, 803 etc, after #801. Am I correct in this assumption?

801 was only repainted due to it haveing major shop work. CSX has made it apparent that it will be some time before the CR SD80MAC, SD70MAC, SD60I and LLPX SD70M get repainted because there forces are currently focusing on rebuilding the CSX SD50's CR/CSX/LLPX GP60/SD60/M and CSX/CR C40-8/W fleets

    Herman,
I would think they would keep the 800 series numbers for the SD-80MAC's being that the first one repainted is #801. I can't say forsure but you would think they would.... :D I know how the SD-80MAC's would be in HO I want one to go with my CSX fleet.... :D

A good friend and fellow Ntrak club member has asked me to re-paint his two Conrail SD80's in CSX colors as I did mine. I had two un-decs, and painted one as CSX #801 and decided to paint the other in NS # 7213. I guess I'll just paint his as #'s 801 & 802 assuming that eventually this will be correct. I wish I could attatch pictures of the two that I did, but I don't have a digital camera (yet). Christmas is coming. :D

I want to do a SD-80MAC in HO scale in CSX perferably #801. Being it was the first SD-80MAC repaint. Trying to get an HO scale Sd-80MAC is going to be the fun part! Even if its only a body.. I'll make the powered frame for it... :D I'm not to much on Conrail as of collecting their road name and all so... But would if it ment i'd get to paint it CSX afterwards... :D

    Harold,
"Eventually" huh??? Wants to run it or them on his own layout and see how good life is with a nice N scale SD-80MAC! HA! :D It be nice to see that with a few older SD-60I's or a SD-60M or something with a intermodal/auto carrier frieght in tow! :D but guys i'm the odd ball. your N scale and i'm HO so.... HE HE Just slightly bigger... But its all the same. trains, trains, trains, AND MORE TRAINS! :D

I've thought about getting 2 Athearn CW44AC's and bashing them to CW60AC. Not alot of difference in the bodies of them. Painting may be fun with the yellow "CSX" lettering on the long hood outlined in the blue....... But, worth a try if it comes to that! :D

    John,
I actually have 3 Kato SD80MAC's (in CR, of course) in N scale. They are without a doubt the smoothest, quietest, and most powerful locos I have ever owned. I converted them to DCC and they are my favorites to run. In fact, if I could have just 1 locomotive in my collection, that would be it! I can't say enough good things about it! [IMG]

    Harold,
Thats great! I'm one for steamers and so on and I stand with not in front nor behind but beside my new version Rivarossi 2-8-8-0 B&O EL-5! I do not have another loco quite like him! he runs like a scared jack rabbit! And pull? I can't even begin to explain that capability of his! An outstanding locomotive!

In diesels, I have a strange one! A Bachmann Spectrum! Its odd to have a good runner and all but made by Bachmann really astounded me! It out runs all my diesels! Even my Proto 2000's! But I can't run my best steamer and my best diesel! The steamer I believe will drag that Bachmann Spectrum GP-30! HA! :D

    Harold,
I got a question maybe you can help me here. I want to model some CSX silver and yellow (ends) Johnstown coal porters..... I made them with old coal hoppers I had and cut out the bays and all and installed the tubs.... I need some pictures to go by to paint them and all being I'm not to sure where each decal would be located. You have any pictures of the silver and yellow (ends) Johnstown Coal Porters??? In CSX paint? If you do post them for me! THANKS in advanced!

    John,
I looked for pictures of CSX hoppers, but came empty. I am not sure exactly whatg they look like. Do they look like these?

    Harold,
See the bays that are angled down on the bottoms? Those are 3 bay hoppers. I'm talking about the coal gondola's with the tubs on the bottoms... They are turned upside down to be emptied. They look like hoppers overall only they do not have the bays on the bottoms! They have like long tubs that run the length of the car between the trucks. Hard to explain how they look! HA! :D But thats an idea though how they look!

    O.K. John,
Thanks for the clarification... I did a little research on my own too. I don't catch too many coal trains in my parts of the world, but will look back thru old pics to see.

So.. i'm kinda behind in that to a point! Thanks though! If you happen to have any post them on my topic "Johnstown coal porters"
