Two levels definitely makes sense of the architecture that I saw as we walked under it. Thanks. Sent from my SM-S901U using Tapatalk
Yep and Chicago's Wacker Drive is double level too. When I was young, my Dad took me to his downtown office on a Saturday and when we drove Wacker along the Chicago River, I thought it was the most amazing thing I'd ever seen.
It might be a PRR X29. These were used in bulk mail and express service and had a low profile, so were well suited to use on passenger trains moving under wire. These were equipped with steam, signal lines and modified high speed trucks. More than 1200 X29s were rebuilt for this service. To be clear, not all X29s were in bulk mail and express service. Between 1924 and 1934, the PRR purchased or built over 30,000 of the prolific X29 class! [from PRR Color Guide to Freight and Passenger Equipment by Sweetland and Yanosey, c. 1992 and other sources]
I started laughing when I read this ....... definitely not laughing at you but that car chase scene from The Blues Brothers suddenly popped into my head.
Funny family story about Blues Brothers filming. My mother passed through Wauconda, IL returning from an errand and saw dozens of police cars, other vehicles and a lot of people. so figured that a major crime had taken place. The next day, she learned that it was all part of a movie shoot. She never saw the Blues Brothers, but I sure have .... many times. Jake: How often does the train pass? Elwood: So often you won't even notice it.
As soon as you said, "dozens of police cars," my first thought was, "I hate Illinois nazis." Sent from my SM-S901U using Tapatalk
Those two RS11s must have made a nice duet of Alco 251 music! Nice soundtrack for all the beach action...
