Railroad club contest this month, was Locomotives. One rule, was factory painted Brass, was NOT allowed! However, if it was weathered, that was OK. Well, I decided to try entering an Overland Models Rio Grande GP60. However, I renumbered this one, from #3154 to #3155, since Overland did NOT do that number! Claim they didn't know. So I was told. Here's the results of the contest: Tied with an HO Scale Shay! Sad thing is, I had to photograph it earlier, so I could enlarge it enough to see if I had changed the number boards! Still have up close vision issues, so I couldn't tell, even with a pair of reading glasses in use! Still "retraining" my eyes to focus with new lenses, after cataracts! A minor hindrance! But, compared to the alternative(s)....... Not too bad, after 2nd place in the Caboose contest at Caboose, back in Oct.
Railroad club meeting tonight. Monthly contest was Freight Cars. This was a last minute recall! I knew I had it, but didn't know where to find it! Decided to try entering contest again! Was up against 2 HO boxcars. In fact, I was the ONLY N Sclae model entered!! Stock Trainworx N Scale Rio Grande coal hopper. Hay Bros. cast resin coal load. Weathered with Bragdon Enterprise powders. Hand graffitied by former TrainBoard member, TBone.
Caboose hosted railroad club meeting tonight. Modeling contest was Cabooses. Won Tier 1, by default! There were no other entries. And 2 entries in Tier 2. Atlas caboose, Bragdon weathering, a Rustall wash, and a new Micro Trains smokestack. Now have a "complete" train, of first place finishes! GP60, coal hopper, and now, caboose.
