    I always find it interesting to watch the mechanized track machines like in hytec's photo. However, seeing an old time gang of Gandydancers doing their thing would also be fascinating.

    Charles Keralt (sp?) during his On The Road series, did an episode that focused on a Gandy Dancer crew re-aligning Mississippi Export RR track in the late 60s or early 70s. The crew comprised about 18 men with 6-foot crow bars, one man spaced every second tie gap, all moving in unison to the singing of a spiritual by their Foreman. It was amazing to see an entire curve smoothed perfectly without the use of machinery. A few years ago, I looked for the episode without success, but I 'd love to post it here.
