A progress report on my Pacific Wilderness Railway - a small point-to-point shelf layout for my first N-Scale attempt. The terrain is roughed in now, and I'm about to start the plaster work after I install the wiring and a magnet uncoupler. Here is the right end of the layout showing a salt water harbour area and a paper mock-up of the station. This is the middle yard portion with the locomotive shop mock-up on the right and a stores building on the left. And finally the left end showing the Malahat siding and Niagara Canyon area (site of a wooden trestle). Here are two close-ups of the stores building cardboard mock-up. The stores building was designed by a cheap software application called Expert Landscape for Windows version 1.0 which I bought for less than $20 at a department store. By adjusting the grid size, I got very close to a 1:160 scale. The design was based on prototype photos, printed out on my laser printer, and glued to cardboard. Here is what the design looks like... Hey doing all the good there Gerry! Looks like well planned out, and I see you are a stickler for proper craftsmanship too. Keep us photo informed!
