I thought that the trucks were just too brown looking for my taste. The trucks and the wheels were brown. To me it made a great looking model look funny. So I traded out the wheels for black ones and I painted the trucks and couples with a shade of grimey black. I think they look much better! Now I had a few brown wheel sets so I painted the face grimey black and put them in an old weathered gondola...It looked pretty good, like the wheels were rusted and hadn't moved for a while!
That is a big improvement. The brown trucks were very bright and shiney, so anything you can do to make them fade away is a definite improvement. The cars look real nice now!
Hey they look pretty good! and that GN gondola weathering is great as well. If you thought those trucks were too bright, put on your shades and look here: http://www.nscalecollector.com/NSC_UP_MOW_Cars.asp
Thanks guys as always for the kind words. Chris, wow, those look horrible...or great depending on what you are going for! John post some pictures of yours when you get done, I'd like to see them. Again, I just know where I come from I never see clean bright colored trucks. Maybe they are out there, but I haven't seen them.
