OK this is a sort of poll\questionaire and is for those of use that have had or have now a DCC system. This is not for those who have heard something was good or bad but for those who have had direct hands on with different dcc manufactures systems.

I would like to know what your honest opinions are about the dcc systems that you've used, you can actually list your experiences as pros and consof the systems and any add ons.

For myself I'm looking for a system that will be able to control turnouts, support traffic direction lites, run no more than 12 units and all the other bells and whistles for sound and whatever is available and it needs to be upgradeable for future improvements.

The system that i use can do all that. It is the Lenz set 100 which comes highly recommended by many people here. You can control Turnouts and program on the mainine.. The thing that sold me was the ten year warrenty on it. this in my own opion as much better then the one year you get with most systems. The best place besides here is tony's train exchange. They have the info and also great prices and service.

I've used Lenz systems for years. The JJJ&E is run by a Lenz 100 system with a second power district run by the Lenz 01 Professional using the LV101, which is then wired to the Lenz 100 command station.

I've heard some good things about Lenz but just to break things down a bit what is meant by a second power district run by the lenz 01 professional using the LV101 . Is this like a smaller lenz system booster ? Does the lenz 100 not give enuff out that a second power district add on is needed. Sorry I'm just learning [IMG]

    Lynn:

The Lenz 100 system supplies 5 amps of power and it's sufficient to run large systems.

I started with a Lenz 01 Professional which supplies 4 amps of power. I'm using the LV101 from the Lenz 01 Professional to power a switching yard and turntable area on the JJJ&E which was wired separately into a second power district,

I was using the LV101 from the 01 Professional so it wouldn't sit collecting dust.

The Lenz 100 sytem is the main command station.

The Lenz system has the easiest learning curve and has a fantastic warranty, plus any upgrades are gratis from lenz.

The support from Lenz USA is outstanding as well as thge support from Tony's Trains who sell lenz systems.

In my experience Lenz is by far the best all around and I have worked with Digitrac, North Coast and Lenz. It will do everything and more you want and things you haven't thought of yet. Service is excellent, software upgradeable not hardware, and easy learning curve. I can only echo what others have stated here. As far as power districts go that depends on how many locos you will be running at one time and how much power they draw plus lights, Add that up and divide that by amp rateing of booster. That will tell you how many boosters you will need. Do the wireing right! the heaver the better at least a 12 Guage Buss line. Check out DCC Made Easy by Lionel Strang. Talk to Tony at Toney's Train Exchange he can answer your questions and is about the best on the Eastcoast to deal with. This should set you on a true corse.
