Well, THE FINAL TRACK MATERIALS HAVE BEEN ORDERED FOR THE ST. LUCAS NORTHERN!!!! Now... the happy stuff out of the way.... Q#1: I have tried everyway I can think of, but I just can't seem to cut styrene straight... Any suggestions?? Q#2.... I want to kitbash a SW9 type engine, or like a GP20... What could i do to make that engine unique.. I mean, so it would be destinguished as a short car mover.. (heavy weathering is already on the list)..... Any more suggestions??
Hi SD40 Cutting styrene - I have a huge cutting mat with grid lines all over it, which helps line things up. You also want a sharp Xacto blad and a solid straightedge that won't flex or bend on you. I use a metal ruler with a smooth side. For shorter cuts, take a look at the Choppers from NWSL. I also usually scribe a light line, check it, and if its square and straight, I rescribe over it and then snap the styrene.
1. Rerail frog 2. Rotary beacon 3. MU cables 4. Snow plows on both ends 5. Spark arrestor on stacks 6. New bell 7. Roof-mounted AC Anything else you can think to stick on there!
For smaller pieces where you'd be using a saw, including items such as loco shells, there is a miter box available. Made of aluminum. Nice for keeping a square cut! Cannot recall who made it. Believe it was an X-Acto product. Works great for me! Boxcab E50
thanks for the suggestions...... I was always planning on getting a EZ chopper type device.... Well skill will evolve with practice i guess.. Thanks again for the suggestions guys..
