Anyone ever tried this? I got some brown paper from an art store and mocked up a huge grid of 1/160 tie plates and printed them out. Then I cut out a few and tried it on a small section of code 40 that I laid. Kinda messy, but I'm still getting the hang of building track this way.

I've seen people do n scale tie plates before, but they were metal. Proto87 offers them, and then someone else made their own out of etched copper or something. I figured brown paper would be easier and cheaper. Gotta figure out the best way to get the PCB ties to match though. Might have to use copper tie plates on those, or file off the copper on most of the tie, leaving on just enough to look like tie plates.
