I can remember seeing and hearing about a model of this beast that used to be made by N Scale of Nevada, but I haven't seen anything lately.

Is this no longer being made? Can someone help me find one? New, used, blown motor, I don't care, I'd just like one.

It's a self propelled side loader for trailers, kind of like the Kalmar lifter made by Showcase Miniatures, but a lot more spindly (gangly?) looking.

http://www.portofmontana.org/intermod.htm then scroll to the bottom of the page for a good pic of the prototype.

I don't know of a model in HO.

I found this on Paul Bender's web page

quote:
N-Scale of Nevada -- Piggy Packer -- there were ONLY 611 of these made. If you have one, or can find one, they are a prized piece of intermodal equipment in N-Scale.

Good link, Rob. Looks like a complex piece of equipment! Don't know if they are still used, or if they have been superceded.

I thought John had sold rights to N Scale of Nevada stuff to Walthers? Although I am not sure if any of his models were produced. I suppose I could ask him. [IMG]
