Guys and gals, bear with me on this one. I just shot my first roll of Kodak Max 800 after reading on various sites that the grain is finer than 400, hard to believe. Anyway, I'm impressed with the color saturation and wish I could have put a train in between these two photos, both taken last week, sunset that rivals any I witnessed in the CA desert, and surf with big swells and high tide. Great photos! Wow! That top one looks like those we get here in Montana. Especially during the late summer months. And I've always loved the Pacific coast. Have spent a ton of time along the Oregon, and especially Washington shores. There's nothing like the sights, smells, and sounds of the surf! Boxcab E50
Watash, You got that right!!! Fitz, Beautiful shots. What shutter speed did you use on the second one? It is hard to believe the 800 speed has less grain than the 400. Kodak must have used a whole new formulation. Your test shots show they did something right. This could be my new standard film for the old Yashica.
I'm not surprised at Kodak developing such a fine film. I would imagine they as well as Fuji and Poloroid are worried about the increasing popularity of digital cameras. Those are really nice shots Jim. Can you scan the sunset pic and then put a steamer in it using software
Peirce, darn, I didn't record the shutter speed. My old Pentax is aperture priority, and with the film speed so high I set the aperture as small as possible, and the shutter speed is still fast. It was shot with 420mm of telephoto, however, and I have found that to be the only way to really capture that spray. Bill, I will have to try that. We're supposed to have a lot of rainy days soon.
Jim that top picture is beautifull!!! Very pretty hand painted picture from God! WOW! NICE work too in taking the picture!
