This is from Trainorders by way of the Railspot and Santa Fe lists: [ 13 March 2002, 14:47: Message edited by: Dwightman ]
Cool I will have to watch for this especially if it is true. I should be able to see it when it comes through Galesburg. Maybe I will get lucky if it is at the Galesburg Railroad Days. I am surprised that A lot of the other railroads aren't coming up with something simular. I keep my Eye out!!! [ 13 March 2002, 16:35: Message edited by: Jack Doran ]
The Friends of the 4449 and the Northwest Railroad Museum, sponsors of the 4449 trip, are advertising "No deisel helpers" on the trip, though BNSF may have other plans, as there is quite a grade in the Deschutes Canyon. We shall see.
Ever since this was first posted, I have been keeping tabs on BNSF 4501, sorry to say it has not stopped moving enough to rest, let alone get repainted Currently (3/21/02) it just arrived at Superior, WI, on train M-GALSUP1-19A . We will have to see where this engine goes next.
If this is true, I have heard it is not to be reapinted until Mr. Krebs retirment special. This means it still has time to make it to the paint booth and get this new Patriotic scheme.
I hear it's already painted, This is a quote from NPTellTale list at Yahoo: OOPS!, My Bad, He said the 4449 is painted, not the -9 [ 25 March 2002, 21:45: Message edited by: pray59 ]
