Kawasaki Rail Car will build 72 new powered PA-5 cars and refurbish another 350 for the agency’s Port Authority Trans-Hudson (PATH) rail system. The 36-mile system connects Newark, Jersey City, Hoboken and Manhattan. The $240 million contract calls for deliveries of new cars to begin in 2022 from Kawasaki’s factory in Lincoln, Nebraska, and tested at the Japanese company’s facility in Yonkers, N.Y.
