Dave: The double mainline track spacing uses a Kato double crossover to get from one track to the other. There are four on the layout. The switching yard below uses Kato # 4 and # 6 turnouts. The # 4's have been adjusted to work properly with no derailments. It isn't a big deal. The yard is ten feet long. I hope this helps you in making a decision.
WOW looks great! What I am seeing is unitrack can be painted, ballasted, to make it look great and if the electrical issues is a big issue that is eliminated. What is the center to center spacing on your unitrack? Thanks! Dave
Dave : Unitrack can be easily weathered and ballasted. It does take time to make it look good. I used natural rock very fine ballast to make this happen. There are no electrical issues as I soldered feeders to each section of Unitrack and three pairs of feeders to eack turnout. It was alot of work but the JJJ&E has been running successfully for nine years. I'm going to build a new around the room layout (20x12'') when I move to my new home in Frsico Texas in february. I'll still use Unitrack. The present JJJ&E is 10x15' on multiple levels. There is no level track on the 120' mainline. Have fun....
