Thought I'd report on my new P2K S-1. Love it! It runs very nicely. The detail is excellent, with some extras (sunshades and stuff) to add to your specific prototype. I put in a Digitrax DN121P and this thing will literally crawl down the track. The low end must be less than 1 scale mile per hour because you can't see this thing move. Start it going, come back in 5 minutes and it's gone maybe 6 inches. I like to program my switchers for about 35 scale miles per hour, and this guy's top end is probably around that out of the box. I haven't pulled any long trains, but from the switching I've done, I'm sure it pulls more than it's protoype. All in all, I highly recommend the P2K S-1. Easy DCC install, great detail, great performance, quiet. A big winner! ($54.95 at National Hobby Supply)
I have been drooling over one of these for my Montana Central, although it will stay in its origonal paint just be faded, rusty and a heavy dose of weathering and a patch with the MC numbers on..... Just cant decide what livery I should get
I feel the need to be irked once again that someone has made a grear engine and NOT IN SP&S!!! I'm sure there are a lot of these sort of posts in here. And in response to the question "Where are all the C636s", beats me, but if you find them, let me know. I need 10!
You might want to check out Tony's Train Exchange http://www.ttx-dcc.com about this locomotive and DCC. There is a problem with the sideframes shorting out against the frame and blowing the decoder. It seems that the bottom brush on the motor is not isolated adequately from the frame. I was thinking of getting one of these locomotives but am waiting for the next batch of road names.
