    HI guys:
Am just getting to the bench work stage.
I have been lurking for a little while and have heard of people using osb board. Was wondering about the pros and cons of using this other than price.
I have heard from other lists that you shouldn't use it for road bed.
May I have your thoughts on this? [IMG] [IMG]

I use it. It works fine for me. Some of the advantages of osb is that it's very dimensinally stable. Also the same thickness is stronger than plywood. I use 3/8" supported about a foot apart. osb is also a lot more reistant to moisture. It can get wet and not delaminate like ply wood.

Some of the dissadvantages of the osb is that you will occasionally get a chip from it delaminate. usually if you use a very good glue and then try to remove it later. It's also stronger in one direction although I haven't noticed that too much. The extra hardness means that spikes and nails are also harder to drive so you'd still want to use cork on it. Finally it can be a little harder to cut. It feels harder and sometimes the saw blade will try and follow the large wood chips instead of the line you're trying to cut.
