    Hello all,

Just wondering how these decoders fare in comparison with the Uhlenbrock and Lenz Gold mini decoders. The advantages are of course the size and the fact that they have 4 functions. Are they easy to program? Do they work well? So many questions....so little time:)

    Thanks in advance,
    Ajay

They are a pain in the rear to program, as you have to do it in CV mode, but they fit in the GP7. I have only used 2 of the functions so far.

The Uhlenbrock is my favorite, but it's only 2 functions. The Lenz Gold Mini is huge, but has the option of connecting a Power 1 module.

I have a problem with the Uhlebrock and the CT decoders. I cant do advance consist with either one of them. I am able to use old style consist or same address number.

What track voltage are y'all using? Are your CT DCX74z decoders the ones that were specially designed to be operational between 7-14V?

Robert, how is the programmer from Oliver Passman working for you?

John, I haven't even connected the Gaugemaster I got from you yet and I'm already thinking about DCC! That's just me- never satisfied.....

    Thanks,
    Ajay

I can't get the programmer to work. It does light flashing like something is happening, but never reads a decoder. I gave up. Going to give it to Kim Vellore to see if he can get it to work.

I guess I should test my programmer. Is funny how many things I buy and dont have time to use it. I better put it to work since I lost my programming track with the recent yard expansion.

Ajay, If you going to run dcc, CSX Joe wants the Gaugemaster.

I run it at 12v, but I never run it at full voltage. I speed limit my engines with the decoder, and when I am not home, I use voltage drop diodes made by Tony B. I dont trust my son to run my trains carefully, but I dont want to discourage him either.
