Ok guys, what is it that attracts you to the intermodal scene?
I love the equiptment, well cars, straddle cranes, loaders, ect. The high speed, fast pace of transporting goods around the globe is awsome!
    And as for modelling,WOW!..boats,ports,cranes,trains,yards,trucks,destinations,overtaking,schedules,routing,pretty new conainers,dirty old containers,double stack,single stack,well cars,spine cars,flatcars,trailers,piggybacks,ramps,whew!I love it! :D

Speaking of spine cars, here are some on my layout, climbing the three percent grade.

I suppose one of the most visible of intermodal trains is the double stack container train. Here is one passing Woodford on tehachapi pass.

While camping at the Neys Provincial park on the North Shore of Lake Superior I hiked up to the CP line and got this shot as the container train rocketed around a tight bend through a cutting. The wheels were shrieking and deafened me for a while. [IMG]
The train then crossed the Little Pic River as can be seen in the next picture.

Itermodal, the here and the now of railroading. One nice thing is you dont need a ton of space to model it. Here is a view of my Intermodal yard. It has 3 traks, One for the roadrailer and 2 for intermodal. It all fits in a space 1' 4" by 4', of course part of my intermodal yard is hiddern by the power plant. [IMG]

More pictures of intermodels (sp?) please! I know there have to be alot of people out there that have some cars at least. My favorite car on my layout, ( I don't have many : ) is my Atlas TTX, I think that's what it is : ) Give us newbies some inspiration for our layouts please!

It is great that we now have an intermodal forum, lets make sure we keep it active. Oh by the way we will be needing a moderator for this forum as well.

So, is this forum for discussion of REAL intermodal, or models, or both? Don't get me wrong: Intermodal is my favorite to watch and photograph, and I'm accumulating lots of N-scale intermodal equipment for my first layout (soon to come).

....now, where does one find those cool spine cars?...

    Mark,
This forum is for both prototype and model intermodal topics. As for those cool spine cars they are manufactured by our own Alan Curtis.

Just click on this link to take you to his site
