Tip-toeing around manufacturer names here because I get the feeling it's taboo. Hypothetically speaking let's say a structure manufacturer with a name that begins with the letter "W" offers an Oil Loading Platform kit that serves two tracks - one track on either side of the platform. In theory could I build this kit to serve just a single track on the one side due to space issues? It would seem all I need to do is to not assemble the filling hoses on the one side.

    Thank you,
    Jas

Trying to talk model railroading without using the 'W' word is almost as difficult as talking real railroads without mentioning that company with the initials G.E.

I'd say your thinking is sound. The folding walkways on one side need to go, too, and their mounting points disguised.

The way it's designed, the pipes on each side lend structural strength to each other, like the two sides of a truss bridge. You could get away with just deleting the loading spouts on one side. It would be more convincing if you eliminated all the pipes on that side, too, but I'd be inclined to devise another realistic way to reinforce the remaining pipes laterally.

The vacant side will be the far side facing the backdrop and somewhat distant from the operator. I'm not overly worried about how detailed correct It would look

Manufacturer names are fine. Those who both make and sell, is kind of a gray area. Case by case, as such.

The model is assembled and the first coat of white paint is on. The prototype near my house is white.

I have seen many of these ' I use one also in my refinery. Most are black many have the hand rails painted safety yellow as the steps also. Pipes are sometimes color colded for different material. Many ways to use them I have 2 tracks one on each side' also you can use 2 kits for a long loading station. Good job their.

Always liked the Hoosac Valley (GREAT Model RR) Oil siding/interchange. Thinking about a similar display on my layout. I have quite a few 30's/40's/50's tankers and need a place to display them. This is some very good, but very simple modeling.
