BN had some oddball locomotives when it came to paint/decals. One of them was a C30-7 with the "B" on the nose but was not whiteface. Does anyone remember the number of this loco? They also had a SD40-2 like this #6368 and a SD40 with white around the cab but nose stripes #6318. http://archive.trainpix.com/BN/EMDORIG/SD40-2/6368.HTM http://archive.trainpix.com/BN/EMDORIG/SD40/6318B.HTM Kevin
Seems like I was never in the right place, to catch these. So I only see them in later photos. Boxcab E50
I didn't know an oddball C30-7 squeaked thru the paint shop without a whiteface/BN logo treatment... Have you searched the BN Photo Archive?
There weren't that many in whiteface ....quite a few remained in basic Cascade Green/Black here's one of them:
Here's the list of Whiteface units: http://www.fobnr.org/motivepower/whiteface.htm When we're looking for is a unit that missed the white cab treatment, but received the BN logo nose.
Good find Hemi. I am not sure but I think there are accualy 2 C30's like this, the 5550 with a small B and one other with the big B on the nose. Kevin
There very well might be. I searched the BN Photo Archive, but not all 241 units have images. FWIW, that's the only one I found in the C30-7 roster. Your clues to narrow the search: Must be post-1989 for a Whiteface unit Likely pre-1991 (whiteface with white pinstripe) #5550 was not listed in the FOBNR list of Whitefaces, so that won't help much. The only units you would then need to search are the ones not linked on the BN Photo Archive.
The placement and size of the BN logos without the words "Burlington Northern" spelled out reminds me of the style on BN's cream and green SD70MACs.
