Jeff, Even though there is a discrepancy in what module goes where, when I look at the floor plan and think back to July NTS I can't help but feel real proud of the wonderful way in which Z was presented to the modeling public. The allotted floor space was laid out very nicely and the arrangement of modules gave wonderful viewing options to all who visited the Z scale. Hats off to all those who participated in this memorable event. I doubt it will be duplicated in style and grandeur any time soon.
Loren, I agree with you 100% on the pride and arrangement parts of your posting, and that's why we really need to document that event correctly. There's no reason to accept less since the information is known. Rob Kluz, Is there still time to catch the errors in the drawing before you publish? -James
...and the new NMRA Magazine is out. In spite of the awards at the National Train Show, I do not believe the letter Z even appears in the magazine. There is a ton of HO photos, but anyone that was at the show knows there was not much in the way of HO modules other than the fabulous one from Edmonton Canada. There WERE a lot of HO models set up for judging, but no Z. ...I goofed - the letter Z does appear once. ...don
It lists all the contest winners, including Robert, Hien, and Robert (again)'s module "sweep", in fact. But that's it (sigh!).
Oh come on guys. Sheesh, I'll swap the two friggin modules when I get a chance. At least it will bump the thread again in another week or so. Here is page 13 (upper half) from the September NMRA.org magazine. I hope that is enough credit. .
For those of you with access to the ZoCal Yahoo group ("Layout ideas" in photo section), I have been trying out different ideas incorporating the BFY into our next planned train show (GTE) in San Diego in December. We will have a 30' x 40' area and that 19.5' yard makes it tough to fit. Five different plans so far. The plans with three T's and one quad module look good so far.
