There are plenty of predecessors to choose for painting. I'd imagine that if this program is well received, there would be further road names added to the present list.
I'll try my post here this time vs. starting a new one . According to a post on the Eastern TO board, there will be 18 heritage units - 10 ACe units and 8 GE's, paint application is said to try and follow the original schemes as close as possible. Interesting that the list posted here earlier has 9 ES44 units. So maybe there will be a Pennsy unit! • Central of Georgia • Conrail • Erie • Erie Lackawanna • Lehigh Valley (red) • New Haven (not definite yet) • New York Central • Nickel Plate Road • Norfolk & Western (blue) • Penn Central • Pennsylvania (Tuscan Red) • Pittsburgh & West Virginia • Reading • Savannah & Atlanta • Southern • Tennessee, Alabama & Georgia • Virginian • Wabash I'll be getting my camera warmed up here in Cincinnati . . . if this is true . . . .
We occasionally get to see an NS unit wandering through here. If one of the "heritage" engines strays this direction, I'd bet our railfan grapevine would go crazy.
My Illinois address puts me in NS territory, former Wabash. Would love to get a shot of the Wabash unit in town.
Check this out. Southern green FTW! http://groups.yahoo.com/group/southern_railway/attachments/folder/1224635274/item/1808354955/view
Sorry to bust your bubble, but that is photoshopped... I am awaiting to see the real ones when they come out.
I saw where April was the first due date but that picture looked pretty good as far as shadows and such. I just didn't understand what is was doing in line with a KCS unit.
I honestly just hope that since NS likes to use AC traction motors on coal trains and since the SD70ACe's and ES44AC's are getting painted in light colors, that the coal dust doesnt ruin the scheme right away. I hope they keep them on intermodals or manifests.
