Well, as you can guess by my avitar, I am an NP fan, and sometimes I just gotta do a model for myself. Last summer I made some NP Wood Cabooses, and was asked if I could make them into a kit. This started a wave of caboose projects for many of the online friends I have made, and I have learned quite a bit since then. Utilizing the tricks I have learned, and feedback from many of you, I updated all my NP Cabooses, and made a 1600 Series caboose to add to the 1200, and 1700 Series. Here is a couple pictures, the 2 window side: The 3 window side: Here is a link with a few more pictures including unpainted wood to show the improvments: The 1600 Series Caboose
Looking great! What did you use for the smoke stack? Did you make this one? Or is it a casting? Boxcab E50
I caved in and bought MT stacks retail from hobby shops. The wood ones looked ok, and hold up just fine, but the plastic ones just look a little nicer. I also added Tichy nut/bolt/washer castings too.
Nice work Robert! If anyone likes a good quality and well thought out kit, try one of Robert's. I am one of those "online caboose friends" and have a pile of those buggies here - when he sent my B&M cabeese I was blown away when I opened the box. Beautiful kits, simply amazing. Try one, one of the best "investments" I have seen in N scale in a long time!
RatonMan I sell my kits through Chuck Ciaccio at www.featherrivertrains.com and chuck also stocks a bunch of Robert's other kits. For my kits, click on Toxie's Models. For Roberts NP and ATSF, go into N scale manufacturers and go to Special run. Edit: I just checked, Chuck DOES have the CN van as well! [ 11. January 2004, 15:06: Message edited by: txcavgr ]
Thanks for the kind words everyone, I want to build about 4 of each of the 1200, 1600, and 1700 series models for my layout. So far I only have 1- 1200, and 1- 1600 done. I got so many people asking for the built up ones when I first made them, that I sold or gave away all 8 of the first generation models I had made leaving me with none, so when I got around to finally making some for my layout, I just updated the model with all the tricks I learned then.
