I'd like to see some photos of the repaired area. To get an idea how they went about the rebuild, and see any engineering changes for future similar incident prevention.
I am getting rumors that the repairs aren't working and more problems are occurring so I would like to get confirmation on what is actually taking place. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk - now Free
Yeah we were being told that Amtrak will probably be going through next week and then I find out this morning from another source that there are more issues and problems going on so I would like some clarification from those that are close to the front lines.
Sounds like the work done, did it's job very briefly?? That a few trains were permitted down and a couple up the hill? Gotta check with a friend tomorrow maybe. Works for UP Denver.
Tried calling, but never heard back. Figure he was busy with the infamous "Honey Do" list! Hope to get in touch eventually!
Here is an update I got yesterday evening. Amtrak will start running through Colorado on Saturday morning. So I will be in Gjt Saturday. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk - now Free
I saw a report from one of the local TV outlets saying the same, that Amtrak was preparing to resume. Progress on returning to normal is good!
Lots of slow orders though and there is still a gang up there. So if 5 is late..... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk - now Free
I would if I could but 1. I only go to grand junction, 2. Federal law prohibits electronic devices. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk - now Free
Yeah, if my car down there was more reliable (its 32 years old) I would probably take a drive and see whats going on.
Trains are moving with no delays yesterday. Also looks like the up had a derailment by mounds in Utah in the past three weeks. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk - now Free
Not sure of the cause but not by the storms. This is between green river and helper. Just west of the junction with the sunny side branch. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk - now Free
I guess this Utah event was not newsworthy, or the media missed it altogether. I tried Googling, and the most recent anything showing for UP was over two months ago.
Finally got in touch with Alan. Said the UP repaired the Denver/Cheyenne line first. Said it was 200x200 foot, at T2. When that was done, they ran a couple of trains in both directions, to help get things settled. Until the UP was satisfied with things, ONLY then would they permit Amtrak to operate over Moffat. Several tunnels also partially packed with mud and debris. Looks like they're almost to the point of getting traffic caught up. Was telling me that BNSF might NOT repair the line from Longmont to Lyons. Only thing up the line, by Lyons, is a cement plant. Anything else is just 2-3 industrial sidings in town. And I'm not even sure how many of those are actually in use, if used at all.
