I am Travis Farmer, from Maine, USA. 36 years old. I found this forum from the DCC++ project page. I don't have a layout yet due to money constraints, but in finding DCC++, it has renewed my interest in model trains. I have been around here for a couple days, hanging out in the DCC++ forum before I discovered the New Member Introductions forum. Currently, I have a Athearn GP38-2 DC loco (HO), and I found a site describing in detail how to convert it to DCC, and it won't be too expensive. I also have some old tarnished brass atlas track that I doubt I will be using for DCC. I enjoy the thought of setting up a layout as I can use it to broaden my electronics hobby, especially in using the DCC++ system. I have browsed eBay for HO track, and sadly all I have found is more brass track within my price range. but with my renewed interest, I am sure I will be able to save some money so I can eventually buy some decent track. My electronics hobby has developed in the past several years with the discovery of the Arduino microcontroller. My main project was a fairly elaborate security alarm system that I was building purely for the educational points I ran into whenever I wanted to add a feature. but I am now thinking of changing direction and developing an Arduino based layout system. could be interesting. but anyway, that's a brief summery of me and how I arrived here. ~Travis
Welcome to the Trainboard Travis. That should be a fun venture for sure. I'm into DCC but haven't read into DCC++ as yet still getting used to all that goes along with DCC. I hope that you enjoy your stay here.
Hi Travis, welcome. Glad you chose to come on board. I'm sure you'll receive lots of information from conversations.
Welcome aboard, Travis. You join a growing list of folks drawn here by interest in DCC++, so you should find lots to keep you going!
