New to this forum but not to the trains. Had some Märklin H0 scale when growing up and after a 30 years break I've now taken the hobby back up in the Z scale (1:220).

Started again with what Märklin offered but has slowly drifted towards US models and what AZL offers as I really like those massive diesels and long trains with lots of cars.

Will start building my layout soon and hope to make some good progress during the autumn and winter here (which lasts until April-May in bad cases...).

    Welcome to TrainBoard

Your weather time frame is similar to where I live, in the northern Rocky Mountains of Montana. We have a joke here, there are two seasons in Montana; July and winter. We often see our first snow flurries in October and they can linger well past March! Snow in August or June is not common, but not rare, either. Model railroading is a perfect hobby for such weather. Indoors, warm and happy. :)

Please come here and post, if not going well. There is vast knowledge waiting to help you turn that situation to a very positive outcome. We have all made mistakes, and learned. Asking questions will save you time, money and minimize any frustrations. (y)
