Hi all I just saw the news and they are saying that there is going to be a demo self propeled passanger train at the altoona train station. does this meen that we might see a second rail sevice for passanger here??? and will it be amtrak that runs it or will it be ran by another. or will this be part of the altoona transportation athoraty?? lots of BIGWIGS on board too. to bad I wont be there I gotta work but I hope to see lots of pic's from the railfans that get to be there!!!
It is heading to a convention in Atlantic City. It will be making stops in Harrisburg, Lancaster, Philadelphia, and a few other places. Here is some information on it: Colorado Rail Car
Thanks for the info and link, Tom. Those are pretty nice looking units. I wonder what sales success they've had? Bill
I sure hope they get it into altoona like the news said they are trying to do. they daid that it would only cost $18.00 round trip to go from altoona to Pittsburgh. if this is true I will go there alot to railfan. I hope they start a train to philly to that would be great. I know I will use the train every 2-4 weeks at least. does anyone know if this will be an amtrak if they get the train ir some other company? it might be interesting if Norfolk southern started a passanger service . I dont think that amtrak has any compatition in the usa to amount to anything. and they need compatition.
I cant agree with that this is a new look and I think it looks better then the units that amtrak has I think that its time for a change in the looks of motive power. just look at the freight. all freight looks very much alike I think that there should be a variety of looks. just look at the auto industry. they still have a vatiety of looks even though they are getting to look all alike. but I think that is wrong to. dodge has the right idea they have a look all to there selves. I gess that I am saying that it would be nice to look at a loco and say with out giving it a thought hay thats an Emd or thats a Ge... what do ya all think?????? mike
