    Thanks.
    This is the precision scale RP prototype for the Bay Window that will be released on October 1, as a two-piece kit without trucks for MSRP $55.00. Only 30 will be produced, each will come with a decal sheet including correct road name logos and specific numbers for;
    PA, UP, SP, GN, NW. Five units will be reserved for other uses.
    The prototype (as you can see) only had single facing seats.
    The production unit will have dual facing seats,

    Jim,
    Where do I place an order for a couple of them? They look like a great model. Bob

    ONLY "30"?!?! Of each or as a whole?!

    Thus, not separate models for each road, thus, only 30 total. Why such a tiny run? Even in Z, there have to be more modellers who want this caboose.

    Triplex, Moose & Chooch,
    Thanks all for your supportive messages regarding our RR-3 Bay Window Caboose.

    Our Z scale products have received limited success. And, MTL is sure to produce this model as an injected molded product for at least a quarter of our price. Thus, a limited edition issued for early adoptors.

    So, we will produce this model in the next few weeks as a Limited Edition with the special decals. We will announce their availability as soon as we have the inventory of 30 units in stock.

    But, just to illustrate our problem we are running a public poll with names displayed at the Z scale Forum at Yahoo
    (can't figure out how to do the same here)
    to determine actual demand and commitment to purchase. If more than the original 30 are ordered we will run another 30 units.

    "Select the number of undecorated RP RR-3 Bay Window Caboose with interiors that you wish to order. (see photo in album "A Bay Window Caboose".

    To be released on October 1, as a two-piece kit without trucks for MSRP $55.00. Only 30 will be produced, each will come with a decal sheet including correct road name logos and specific numbers for;
    PA, UP, SP, GN, NW.

    Owner/Operator names will be added to a decal sheet for an additional $10 - Special Order."

    Watch the poll at Yahoo for its results. If you know others interested in this product, tell them about the poll.

    By the Way, if you want a completely Subjective opinion of this model, ask Jim Manley - he actually held a finished one in his hand very recently, examined its detail through a magnifying glass, and compared it to MTL's Z scale Commemorative Box Car (our standard of Z Scale production).

    i think the searails caboose announcement needs to be a separate thread. i remember people giving flack to MTL when they shared info about a new product on a thread that announced something for someone else. we have referred to this as "hijacking a thread".

    i think that MORE threads about MORE new products helps new people find their way around the site more easily, rather than having to scratch their heads wondering where they saw an item mentioned.
    we've all had to search for things, and it does get hard, sometimes, going through 15 pages of threads to find the particular item you are looking for.

    just a helpful suggestion,
    dave f.

    We agree, and will step out of this thread NOW.
    But, since we have only received four (4) responses to the poll at the Yahoo Z GRoup site, it may indicate that this subject has the group interest we anticipated.

    Jim:

    Have someone who knows nothing about the equipment you are selling ATTEMPT to fill out the poll. It takes a lot of work and most folks just do not have the time to fiddle and fiddle.

    My dimes worth.
