    Hello,

New to model railroading. Starting in N-scale. Just built my 4 x 8 bench and will be receiving the Senic Ridge from Woodland Scenes tomorrow (13Dec12) if I'm lucky. The layout is for a 3 x 6 so I plan to expand to fit the 4 x 8 sheet. Also wondering if anyone has modeled the layout or anything else in Autocad Inventor.

    Thanks,

    Malcolm.

It's a good day for the Granite State - 2 new members from way up there! Good luck with the construction.

Welcome aboard, and there are a few members that have modeled that layout but I can't recall if they expanded and or how. They'll run accross your thread and post comment.

Wicked awesome you joined us! From one Granite Stater to nother, welcome! My B&M 6X3 started out as a Scenic Ridge but quickly became what it is today. A few have built this layout and have done very well with it. The kit is a bargan and a great way to get into the hobby. Who is your hobby shop down there? Also you should make plans to go to the Amhearst Societies Big RR show in Springfield MA in January.

    Thanks

    All,

Thanks for the welcome. I'm back from the holidays and my scene set has arrived. I've laid out the track foam board.. bought a nice, tall stool (I have my bench at about 42" height) to view and work on the layout. I've also installed a new work table and am generally preparing the room, or my man cave, so I can spend many hours relaxing in it.

    Jim,

I've found the closest hobby shop to be in Hampton Falls--The Train Shop at Brentwood Antiques on the internet. I'm planning to pay them a visit this Saturday 12Jan13. I need to buy 1/2" thin foam to level out my 'ground' (the kit only has enough to cover 3' x 6'. My table is 4' x 8'). Also may buy a few odds and ends like track, buildings, and electrical stuff or wait for the Amhearst RR show! Thanks for mentioning it!. I'm planning to drop by and visit the layouts, sites and vendors.

    Thanks again everyone.

    Malcolm.

Hi Malcolm, welcome back. Ask about Neal at Neal's N-Gauging Trains when you're at the Train Shop in Hampton Falls. Neal had an excellent stock of N-Scale when I was last there 10+/- years ago, when I bought his kit of the North Conway engine house. He also gave me a good price on an IM FT AB set at the Amherst show in 2004. Though I don't know what's happened to him lately because his website has disappeared.

I located a 2009 blog that had the following, though being 3 years old I don't attest to its reliability.

Anyways, here is their current address, and phone number:

Malcom and Hank, I'm scheduled to work the Carstens booth this weekend in St. Louis for the WGH show. If I remember correctly, Neal is going to be there. If I can walk the show, I'll look for him and see if he still has the store front. When I lived in NH, he had a nice shop and I could get all kinds of hard to find N scale items. Malcom if you never have been to the Amhearst RR show, your in for a big surprise. I'd say it's the largest train show in the United States. Three big buildings and one small, filled with everything from T to ride on trains. I usually spend the entire weekend there and still don't see it all. There is lots of N scale and deals to be found. It was a yearly tradition for me when I lived in NH. I went the last two years for work. Won't be there this year unfortunately, but stop by the Carstens booth and say hi to George and Otto.

Welcome to Trainboard. Back in the early 60s I lived in Milford, a bit west of where you are.
